Reports of a major military operation in Minato Ward, Tokyo Metropolitan Prefecture...

 photo IMG_1964-2_zpsiwq80tki.jpg

Reports are emerging that earlier today the Japanese Self-Defence Force carried out a major military operation in Minato Ward, Tokyo Metropolitan Prefecture, in an attempt to intercept the Kaiju pack that made landfall in Kito Ward yesterday afternoon.

Details are unconfirmed at this time, but initial reports suggest that the Kaiju pack was successfully halted by the deployment of multiple Jäger units.

The Metropolitan Prefecture remains in quarantine, but the Mt. Fuji Media Observation Station reports little in the way of areated debris or sismagrphic activity, giving hope that the damage incoured to property has been relitivly minor.

The Self-Defence Force has not yet made a statement, but one is expected within the hour.

Stay tuned for more information as it arrives.

Month Old Smug

Hey Internet,

I was tidying up my desktop when I came across some photos - and suddenly realised that I never got round to smugly putting them up on this blog.

Last month it was my Clubs annual Painting Competition - and in it I won twice! Woo! Go me!

Once in the 'Group Historical' category, and again with the same entry for 'Best In Show'.

I entered my 'Norse Warriors' that I did for 'Of Gods and Mortals'.

In fact, I painted these models following the previous years Painting Competition because I was rather disheartened that I had not painted anything that year that I thought 'worthy of a painting competition'.

There was a really good turnout for the competition this year, with lots of really nice entries, a number of which really should have beaten mine.

Photos taken with on a Canon EOS-M.

And of course, my winnings. Two £15 vouchers for Monster Models & Games, the local wargames and modelling stall in Wells Market. I've no idea what I'm going to spend them on, but I'm heading over onto their site to make my mind up once I've finished typing this...

Wells Club 21st February 2013: Fallout Failure

Hey Internet,

Just got back from my local war games club.

I had a go at using the Fallout PnP Skirmish/Role-play rules to run a small combat game. I'm not going to say much about it, but we wont be playing anything with those rules, ever again!

Too much division and cross referencing for my liking. Many a laugh was had though, at the expense of the rules.

Ah well, there is always next time!

Wells Club Game Thursday 31st Jan 2013: Steve's X-Com

Hey Internet,

Had another really fun game at the club the other night.

Deploying out of our VTOL to investigate the weird alien glowy-things.

'Oh God I said that out allowed' Steve put on a fun game for us all, using his own rules (that were really rather good) based on the X-Com computer game. I've never played X-Com before, but the other people playing the game who had agreed that the rules really had the 'feel' of the video game.

Tactical Petter-Pot manoeuvres in action.

Even though I dident know the background, it was a hoot-and-a-half. Our squad of four rookie troopers dropped into town in our VTOL, with the mission to kill as many of the aliens as we could.

A Shoot-out with some spaceteepaste eaters hiding in cover.

The game was fun, using a simple but very enjoyable mix of D10 and D6 mechanics that was a real   breath of fresh air after all the overtly intense and complicated wargames that I have been playing recently.

Everything goes to crap as the big nasty aliens, with their bigger nastier guns, kill everything.

I did die quite early on, but I didn't mind as it was still fun to watch, and their is a pub directly across from the club.

If at first you don't succeed, drink, drink and drink again...

Wells Wargames Club 17/01/2013

Hey Internet,

For the first time in several months I went to my local Wargames Club. I haven't been in a good 4 or so months now due to my life catching on fire and exploding over the last few months. But anyway, yeah, I went, and Intend to start going regularly once again.

I ran a zombie though a figure of eight around these barrels when my sniper rife ran dry.

Nice Nick and 'Oh God Did I Say That Out Aloud?' Steve put a fun 'left for dead' zombie slasher game on for us. They were testing out their own rules for a zombie game. Went very well, but I was a little concerned at the lack of being eaten. But, keep in mind, we found a M72 LAW and used that to kill most things.

A poor little zombie, seconds before he got Axed in the face. R.I.P

Fun was had by all and much zombie brain was spilt.

Zombies. Oh dear.
