Some more 1:2400 scale Warships

Hey All,

I've been painting a few ships this week.

All of the models are 1/2400th scale and by Tumbling Dice.

Most are unfinished, needing their flags, names ect.

First up, the HMS Alexandra (in Channel Fleet colours)

  2. Brilliant stuff, I'm very tempted by those new TD British ironclads always had a soft spot for Inflexible. Can I ask how you do you scratch builds is it from plans, if so where do you find them. Or is it from photos? I really want to have ago and I'm struggling to get started

  3. Hey 'ofdiceandtinymen',

TD 1/2400th Ships are wonderful. I would suggest them to anyone.

In terms of scratch building, I have a mechanical pencil, some thick art card (available from any stationers, model shop, &c.), a sharp scalpel and some modelling putty. Generally I work from whatever plans, photographs and paintings I can find after some extensive googleing.

    Hope that helps.

  4. Yup they are I just ordered the early British ironclads can't wait to get them.

Thanks for the advice on the scratch building it was helpful think I'll find a suitably simple ship to give it a go with first.

    1. Good to know that I've helped to drum up some business for someone!

With scratch building its best to start with something simple. Monitors are the easiest. Remember at this scale a little greenstuff and a bit of paint will hide a multitude of sins!

Make sure you post up some pictures of your models.
