The next two ships for the North Atlantic Fleet, the USS Dictator and the USS Colossus. Both are from TD.

The USS Dictator is a powerful seagoing Monitor armed two 15” smoothbores in a Coles turret.

The USS Colossus, also known as the USS Kalamazoo, is another seagoing monitor, but with less armour than the Dictator and two turrets both mounting a pair of 11” guns.

Post-Apocalyptic Fascist Junta

These are the first pics of my high-tech paramilitary shadowy Government of the Post-Apocalyptic world. I think the influence is obvious really.

I’m doing these and a fair few more for various things, Necromunda/Gorkamorka and some Role-playing Games in particular.

I’ve got a fair lead mountain for this force as well as some snazzy other stuff, and I’m fairly enthused about the whole thing, so expect a fair few updates and new pictures as I get them painted and ready.

I particularly like how the guys with the PlasmaCaster and the Sniper Rifle came out.

And a photo just to show the size of the thing.

USS Dunderberg

Photobucket

Good evening everyone,

I’ve painted and built and painted the flagship for the United States North Atlantic Fleet, the Casemate Frigate USS Dunderberg.

I’m my little contra-timeline the war fears between the Union and England matirialise at the end of the Confederate War of Succession, and as such the Dunderberg is not sold to France, and rather serves in a career as the flagship of the North Atlantic Fleet.

At the time of her launch she was the longest wooden ship afloat and arguably one of the most powerful warships afloat in the world.

This model is 1:2400 scale. I couldn’t find a model of the Dunderberg in this scale so I decided to scratch build one. I’ve never made a small scale ship from scratch before, but It didn’t turn out to be too difficult. Its made of card, a paperclip, a small brass tube and a fair bit of maths. I used card because its easy to work with than plasticard, and it was within arms reach at the time. Considering the model is less than 2” long I don’t think it looks too bad and should make a nice gaming peice.

What do you think?

‘It’s been a while’ and “Anglo-American War – 1/2400 Ironclads – USS Dunderberg”

Hello Everyone.
Sorry for the lack of Posts, I have been busy with some essay writing for the past month or so, so sadly haven’t had the time to get any posts up or really anything Wargaming related finished.

But all that’s soon to change. I expect over the next few weeks to finish my ‘gang’ for the Necromunda/Gorkamorka campaign that I am soon going to be running and to get my VSF Russians looking a little more up together and ship-shape.

First however, A sort of spur of the moment project that I got a little over enthusiastic over the last few days, the 1865 Anglo-American war in 1/2400 scale. I’m doing American Navy and a Friend of mine is taking care of the British and perhaps the French if they want to join in.v

Expect a fair few pictures in the coming week...or next week if the postman is slow.

Because I had to order things, I decided that my first leap ever into 1/2400 scale naval war gaming should also be my first ever scratch-built ship. Because I couldn’t find one anywhere else in the right scale, my version of the USS Dunderberg.

Before you judge, it’s my first go at a scrachbuild and its only 2” long, so this is a super close up. I’m holding judgement if it’s a ‘keeper’ or not until it’s got a nice lick of paint and I’m holding it at arm’s length, or better still watching it on the table blasting apart the Royal Navy.

It’s made of cardstock (because its easier to cut than plasticard and it was within arms reach when I was on the sofa), a paperclip, a piece of copper pipe, some glue, polyfiller, a Wikipedia entry and a calculator.
